Privacy policy

The short version

This is a static portfolio website. It sets no cookies and has no user accounts. I count visits with Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that stores no IP addresses and nothing on your device. Some data still flows when you visit, and this page explains what, where and why.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting, a service by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). When you open a page, your browser sends technical data to the hosting servers. This includes your IP address, browser type, date and time, and the page you requested. Google processes this data to deliver the website and to keep it secure. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in operating this website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Data may be processed on servers outside the EU under Google's standard contractual clauses.

Fonts

The site loads the Ubuntu and Roboto typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google servers to fetch them, which transmits your IP address to Google. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in a consistent presentation of the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Analytics

I use Plausible Analytics to see how many people visit the site, which pages they read and where they come from. Plausible is a service by Plausible Insights OÜ (Västriku tn 2, 50403 Tartu, Estonia). It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.

When a page loads, a small script sends the page address, the referring website, your IP address and your browser's user agent to Plausible. It also measures how far you scroll and how long the page stays open. A few interactions are counted the same way: clicks on the booking, email, LinkedIn and external links, the first click into the booking calendar, whether the contact section came into view, and visits to pages that don't exist. Plausible uses the IP address and user agent to derive your approximate location (country, region, city) and your browser, operating system and device type. It also uses them to form a daily visitor ID: a hash of IP address, user agent, site domain and a random salt that is deleted every 24 hours. Plausible does not store your IP address or your full user agent. It cannot recognize you on the next day or on other websites. I only see aggregated statistics and cannot tell who you are from them.

All data is processed and stored in the EU, on servers in Germany. Plausible processes it on my behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used so I can improve it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time. Blocking plausible.io in your browser or content blocker stops the script from loading. More in Plausible'sdata policy.

Videos

Trailers on the case-study pages and session recordings on the event pages are embedded click-to-play. No YouTube player loads until you press play. When you do, your browser connects to YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com, operated by Google) and YouTube may process your IP address and set its own cookies. Video preview images are loaded from YouTube's image servers when a case-study page opens. The legal basis for the embed is your action of starting the video (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Email contact

If you email me, I process your address and message to answer you. The legal basis is the initiation of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) or my legitimate interest in answering requests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). I keep correspondence only as long as needed or as required by law.

External links

The site links to external services such as app stores, Steam, LinkedIn, Instagram and Medium. Once you follow a link, the privacy policy of that service applies.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, the right to restrict or object to its processing, and the right to data portability. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for Berlin is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit.
